ContactEmployee Spotlight - Sharon Hancock
This month, the spotlight is on Sharon Hancock. Sharon joined the Greene Finney, LLP team four years ago and was recently promoted to Supervisor. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Bob Jones University. We hope you enjoy getting to know her on a more personal level as she shares some insights on her interests and family.
What are your favorite hobbies?
Talking with my sister, spending time with family and friends, playing with my dog (or any dog for that matter!), doing Pilates (big stress reliever), and reading.
What is your “happy place” in South Carolina or your hometown?
My “happy place” would be anywhere with moving water. I miss driving over bridges and seeing all the rivers and the coastline when I lived in Virginia.
What is a fun memory that you have?
Since my dad worked at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, his department was given an opportunity to go on a day cruise on the USS Nimitz out into the Chesapeake Bay. He was able to bring along my mom, my brother and me. Definitely a memorable time getting to explore the aircraft carrier and experience a military airshow over the bay.
What type of music would we find on your playlist?
It’s pretty eclectic – with little to no country music. But as I was raised on a lot of classical music (which accompanied piano and violin lessons), I resort to my classical music playlist on a daily basis.
What is your favorite movie and/or book?
Um, that’s hard. I read a lot of classics growing up, but I’ve always liked a surprise ending. So in high school, I read almost every book and short story by Agatha Christie. “And Then There Were None,” would be one my favorites of her books. Wait Until Dark with Audrey Hepburn is a favorite movie that I recently discovered.
What is your favorite thing about working at Greene Finney, LLP?
The people
What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
When I was growing up, it was rare for me not to have at least one scraped knee, and I was usually always covered in dirt or grass stains. (I’m definitely not that active anymore!) My siblings also have memories of this kind of active lifestyle as we had at least one emergency room visit and another cosmetic dental procedure resulting from our “playtime” as kids.
What are the Top 3 highlights of your life?
Knowing Christ as my Savior
Becoming an aunt
Moving back down South
